AI Tip: The Free App That Turns a Language Barrier Into a Conversation

The pre-trip AI tip clients will thank you for all year!

Complexity Level:  ✈️ (1 out of 5)

Google Translate now translates spoken conversation continuously, in real time, instead of waiting for each person to finish before it translates. Now a back-and-forth actually flows like a normal conversation. The app uses Google's Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, covers more than 70 languages, and is free on both iPhone and Android.

You get two ways to use Google Translate

First, for yourself. On a FAM trip, a site inspection, or a call with a supplier or DMC where English is not their first language, open the Google Translate app and tap the Live translate button at the bottom. Pop in earbuds, start talking, and you hear the translation a couple of seconds behind. On Android you can also hold the phone to your ear like a regular call and hear it through the earpiece, no headphones needed.

Second, and this is the part that sets you apart: tell your clients about it before they leave on an international trip. "Download Google Translate and bring earbuds" becomes useful for ordering dinner, asking a pharmacist a question, or talking to a taxi driver. It costs you nothing and signals to your clients that you think through the details that matter.

Try this today: open the Google Translate app, tap Live translate, and run a quick test conversation so you can walk a client through it with confidence.
