How to Decide When and Where to Act in Your Travel Business
We’re in the heat of Summer, and that means that, if you're a travel advisor, you have lots of clients traveling. Demands for last-minute trips are up, and, of course, you and your family are busy as well (hopefully full of fun things). You’re busy. Your family is busy. Your friends are busy. Americans are busy.
We all have a list of things. Not a to-do list, but a list of actions we’d like to take to improve our lives and our businesses. All too often we find ourselves thinking or saying,
“Now just isn’t the right time. When things slow down, I’ll have time to focus on…”
Have you ever said?
“When I get back from this trip, I’ll…,” or
“As soon as [insert child’s name] goes back to school, I’ll…,” or
“I can’t do [insert activity] this year, I’ll make it a priority for next year,” or even
“Once I save up a little more money, I’ll…”
I certainly have. Every single one.
I won’t sugarcoat it. I have some uncomfortable news. Life isn’t going to slow down. As soon as one thing finishes, another begins, and the cycle repeats. Unless we intentionally do something to interrupt that cycle.
We’ve all heard the saying “There’s no time like the present.” I hate that phrase. Not because it isn’t true, but because it is.
Actionable Moves You Can Make
Let’s think about our lists. Let’s consider each and every item. Hopefully, most of the items on your list are great things that will improve your life and your business. This week let’s identify one or two that are indeed a priority, and more importantly, take a step towards acting on it. We don’t have to declare complete victory this week, but we do need to move towards it.
Otherwise, our lives will continue as they are, the drumbeat of summer will bang on, and we’ll be on to whatever life decides to throw at us next. Let’s change the tune. We can decide what’s next. We can have what we want, but we have to prioritize and act intentionally, and sometimes that means acting before we want to or feel comfortable doing so.
Is NOW the Right Time?
You are the only one who can answer that question. If it is, or if it could be, this week, I hope that you are filled with conviction to act.
We would love to hear more of your success stories. Please share your experiences and challenges with Jason at jblock@worldvia.com, so we can continue to inspire and learn from each other.
